Is There an Easy and Hard Path of the Shamans Path Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds, Aloy will be tasked with collecting nine total Pigments scattered around the entire map, all to give to the painter back in the small town of Song's Edge. In this Frozen Wilds Pigments locations guide, we'll be revealing the locations of all nine Pigments scattered across the frozen wasteland, as well as revealing how to make it to all of them.
In case you need anything else at all relating to the Frozen Wilds expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn, including how to take down all the new Daemonic enemies, on top of how to actually access the DLC itself, head on over to our Frozen Wilds guides walkthrough hub.
The Frozen Wilds Pigment Locations Guide
It's highly likely that you'll first encounter Pigments in the Frozen Wilds expansion while progressing through the For the Werak quest. This quest sees Aloy attempt to gain favor with the local Banuk people, in order to challenge Aratak, the leader of Song's Edge, in open combat. You'll have to get hold of all nine Pigments on the map in order to actually progress to the point where you can challenge Aratak himself, so they are tied to the story of the expansion.
Just below, we'll walk you through the location of every Pigment on the map that Aloy can recover. We should note, before we begin, that a Pigment can be recovered through the Shaman's Path quest, in which Aloy tried to seek out Ourea. While on your way to the final location of Ourea, the Pigment can be found in the wall of a cliff. It's hard to miss, so don't worry about accidentally walking past it.
Light Salt Pigment Location
So begin the Pigment part of the For the Warek quest, you'll need to find Sekuli, the painter located in Song's Edge. She can actually be rather difficult to find, as she's located roughly halfway up a mountain, but we've pinpointed her location just below.
The Light Salt Pigment is easy to find from here, as all you need to do is have Aloy head north, to the very outskirts of the Banuk surrounding Song's Edge, and interact with the mound situated on the edge of a clearing with a group of people.
Dark Oxide Pigment Location
For the Dark Oxide Pigment, you'll need to head straight north west from here, until you find yourself roughly in the middle of a triangle of Campfire locations. The mound can be found in the side of a cliff nearby.
Medium Oxide Pigment Location
The Medium Oxide Pigment can be located by either going north east from Song's Edge, or south west from Longnotch. Either way it's a fair journey, but you can find it just outside of the nearby Control Tower zone.
Dark Salt Pigment Location
The Dark Salt Pigment can be found right in the middle of the Frozen Wilds map, just east of the nearest merchant. It can be found just south of a road intersection, within a cluster of trees.
Light Crystal Pigment Location
For the Light Crystal Pigment, you'll need to work your way north from the southern section of the Frozen Wilds map, going right into the heart of the base of the group of mountains in the middle of the map.
Medium Crystal Pigment Location
The Medium Crystal Pigment is located roughly in the north east of the map, directly north of the nearest bandit camp. You can find the Pigment located at the edge of the sharp cliff, with a couple of powerful Daemonic machines patrolling nearby.
For the Medium Salt Pigment, you'll unfortunately have to take out the entire bandit camp that we previously mentioned, which can be found in the eastern section of the map. You'll have to fight your way to the Bandit Leader at the top of the camp, before coming back down and interacting with the mound on the frozen section of water.
Dark Crystal Pigment Location
Finally, the Dark Crystal Pigment can be located right at the top of the mountain, in the middle of the Frozen Wilds map. It's a tough climb, but we'd recommend approaching the mountain from the north, as there are some key climbing points that can only be found from this direction.
But what do you actually gain for finding all nine Pigments scattered across the Frozen Wilds map? If you return to Sekuli after having collected all nine, not only will she give you her blessing to take down Aratak in the For the Warek quest, but she'll also give you the opportunity to purchase three distinct Pigment boxes, which you can see just below.
As you can see from the contents of a Pigment reward box just below, you're guaranteed to get at least two powerful modification items in every box, as well as one Bluegleam item.
That wraps up our Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds Pigments guide, but if you're still hunting for all the Animal Figures scattered about in the wastelands, make sure to check out our Frozen Wilds Animal Figurines guide.
